TITLE
The different use of Extended Kalman filter in Industry 4.0: from localization
to cyber attack protection

Industry 4.0 exploits automation and data analysis technologies to create smart factories composed of networked machines sharing production with workers. The Industrial Internet of Things represents a technological pillar for Industry 4.0. It consists of sensors that monitor a machine’s maintenance and human status connected to the production data for analysis. In this framework, two different problems need to be addressed. On the one hand, the position of sensors and humans have to be known to provide spatial awareness. On the other hand, all the data has to be protected from cyber-attacks. In this seminar, these two different topics will be addressed under a common framework by proposing several Kalman-based algorithms.
BIO
Federica Pascucci (Senior Member, IEEE) received the Laurea degree (M.S.) in computer science and
automation engineering from the University Roma Tre, Rome, Italy, in 2000, and the Ph.D. degree in system engineering from the University of Rome “La Sapienza,” Rome, in 2004. She has been an Assistant Professor at the University of Roma Tre since 2005, where she is currently an Associate Professor. She is also an affiliate professor at the University of Washington. She is the leader of the research group on human cyber-physical systems. Her research interests include wireless sensor networks, indoor localization, cyber–physical systems, industrial control systems, and critical infrastructure protection.
